I’ve already pulled out the Christmas vinyls and have both the She & Him and Michael Buble Christmas albums on repeat. I know many would say you’re supposed to wait until after Thanksgiving Day to pull out those holiday tunes and decor, but Christmas is the one holiday where I like to start my planning early.
Sometimes with holiday traveling and get togethers, November and December can get busy real quickly, often resulting in a lot of last minute gift shopping. For the last two years, my husband and I have lived away from family, so Christmas shopping is always something we’re having to finish before we travel. This has resulted in a lot of planning and skimming the internet or local shops to find meaningful gifts that our relatives will like.
This year we are in the same position, so I’ve already begun to write down my list of names along with gift ideas. Over the years, I’ve realized that when putting together the list of items I want, I usually try to make sure it considers the following three things.
Quality matters to me, because it usually means a product will last longer and uses durable materials. Quality items also tend to be more appealing.
Even if it’s something simple, it’s natural to hold on to things, wear things, or display things that are appealing to look at.
Meaningfulness matters to me, because it demonstrates a level of care and thoughtfulness. For me this means picking out something that I know they would want or picking out something that they have mentioned wanting.
Recently Jord asked me if they could send me one of their wooden watches to gift to my husband. I was excited to say yes, especially because I knew it would perfectly meet this list. There is something so timeless about a well-designed, quality watch. Finding a nice watch was actually the first gift I gave my husband for our 1 year anniversary while we we’re dating. The thing I love about Jord watches is that they’re different, providing a simple, but unique touch to a casual or button down look.
The watch in these photos is the Dover Koa and Black watch. My husband recently wore it with a navy button down shirt as we made one last visit to Stumptown Coffee during our anniversary trip to Portland. My favorite things about this watch is that it isn’t battery operated and it has a skeleton face feature, which allows you to view the gears.
If you are interested in gifting someone special in your life with a wooden watch, Jord is currently offering my readers a 25% discount simply by using this link. They have designs for both men and women. This discount is only good until December 15, which means you won’t have to worry about it being a last minute gift. 🙂
